Going Where The Sun Keeps Shining Thru' The Pouring Rain
Recently, several people here with a conservative bent have expressed their disillusionment with the events and people involved in this election cycle, and I don't blame them one bit for feeling the way they do. It's terrible. It's the worst ever. No question about it.
Where I have a problem is with their personal solution - to pack it in, to wait it out, to see what happens, to hope for the best and expect the worst - then maybe rejoin the fray later when The Chosen One has made an even bigger mess of things.
Good plan. George Washington would have loved you in his army
But those are the conservatives I've come to know over the years - weak, whiny, and with a steel will to abandon the struggle when the going gets tough. They complain that they can't debate the opposition when the opposition has no interest in debating and never has - That was demonstrated right here last when when Snowy wandered in, dropped a load. declined my offer to take a closer look at his charges and suppositions, declared victory, and left.
Only conservatives seek to debate. Because only they can. Only they are looking for rational, sensible ways to solve problems. Liberals just want what they want.
So when will conservatives learn you can't debate a liberal and stop treating them as if they were human? As if they, too, want what's best for America? Liberals can't debate even if they were so inclined. They are incapable of doing so. Their minds aren't wired that way, and even if they were, their "facts" aren't debatable - they're just wrong. Would you like a stark example? Here's a liberal who thinks he's nailed why Bush is the worst President ever - it's 98% fact free.
It's sickening, isn't it? And yet liberals will read the same thing and reaffirm every word, and add a few wild observations of their own.
And conservatives want to debate them? And then give up and go home when they can't "reach" them?
That columnist has one thing right though - the effects of a presidency extend far beyond the term, so you Whining Willies might give that some consideration when you think you can just regroup in eight years and "make things right."
It really makes me wonder which side is crazier.
But there's no doubt who's weaker.
Happy Independence Day!
